Check your YouTube Channel first
Before we get on to the tutorial, let’s first check if your channel is currently personal or a brand account.
Now, to check whether your channel is a brand account;
- Make Sure you’re logged in to YouTube
- Click on your profile Icon at the top right corner of your screen
- Scroll down and click on YouTube Studio
- Click on settings at the bottom left corner of your screen
- On the Popup, click on Permission
If your Channel is a brand channel, then after you click on permission, your screen should look like the image below.
If you see any other interface, then continue to this article, but if not,
There’s no need to continue with the article because you already own a YouTube brand account.
How to Move Personal YouTube Channel to Brand Channel
- Make Sure you’re logged into the account you wish to convert
- Click on your Profile icon and go to settings
- Click on ‘Add or Manage your Channels’
- On the next page, you’ll see all channels associated to your account.
- Click on Create Channel and enter new Channel name.
Once the new YouTube Channel has been created, you’ll be redirected to the Channel’s profile page with 0 content and 0 subscribers.
This is where it gets tricky,
You should not complete the switch on the new YouTube Channel you just created to avoid loss of content.
What you are going to do is, log back in to the channel that you wanted to transfer its content and subscribers.
To finally make the switch,
- Click on your profile icon and go to settings
- On the Next page, click on ‘view advanced settings’
- Once the next page is loaded, you’ll see ‘move channel to a YouTube brand account’, click on it.
- Scroll down and select the account you wish to move into and then click replace.
And that’s it!
You have successfully completed the process of switching from a personal to a YouTube Brand Channel or should I say ‘account’.
