Propellerads and Adsterra are two Industry-leading ad networks that automatically approve publishers and pay good money on time. Propellerads vs Adsterra unlocked.
Research states that Propellerads was founded around 2011 and they’ve been serving ads to date while Adsterra has been serving ads since 2013, So Propellerads is a bit older.
In this article, I’ll compare Propeller ads with Adsterra according to the following:
- Site Approval.
- Ad Formats.
- Withdrawal Threshold.
- Payment Methods.
Site Approvals
Both Propellerads and Adsterra automatically approve publishers, however, you’ll need to verify your site, either by adding a TXT entry to your DNS records or adding an HTML code in between the <head>.
If you want to sign up for Propellerads and you want higher CPM rates, use this link – https://propellerads.com/high-earnings/, the same goes for Adsterra – https://adsterra.com/max-cpm. (Note that this offer is only available for new publishers).
Ad Formats
Propellerads is known to be a popular popunder ad network, those were the first type of ad formats they were using, all others were just implemented a few years ago, let’s take a look at the ad formats.
- Multi tag
- In-page push
- Interstitial
- Popunder
- Push Notifications
- Direct Link
With Propellerads Multi tag, you only need to add a single line of code to the head tag of your website and you’ll get all the ad formats combined. Note that this will significantly ruin the user experience, run some experiments and see what works for you.

The multi-tag will significantly sacrifice user experience for more revenue, if you want to know how much you can earn from Propellerads, read this article now!.
As for Adsterra, the ad formats are fairly the same with Propellerads, just that they don’t offer the Multi tag just yet and they specialize in Native and Banner Ads, let’s take a look at the ad formats offered by Adsterra:
- Social Bar
- Native Ads
- Display Ads
- Direct Link
- Popunder
The Social Bar is just like the push notification ad format offered by Propellerads, in my analysis, Social Bar makes more revenue than Push Notification Ads.

Withdrawal Thresholds
Before you receive payments from Propellerads, your balance needs to be greater than $5, and remember that you’ll be receiving payments weekly and automatically.
The same cannot be said for Adsterra, you need to reach either a $100 or a $1000 threshold before you can receive payments, it largely depends on the payment method you select.
Payment Methods
Propellerads pays publishers via PayPal, Webmoney, Payoneer, and Wire Transfer – you’ll receive your payments every week once you reach the threshold required, which is $5.
Adsterra pays publishers on the 1st and the 16th of every month, via PayPal, Paxum, Wire Transfer, and Bitcoin. For PayPal and Paxum payment methods, you need to have made at least $100 before the next payment date, the others require a $1000 threshold.
Final Thoughts on Propellerads vs Adsterra
Both are great Ad Networks, and with the review in this article, you should be able to narrow down to the ad network that you know you can work with.
In a nutshell, Both of them pay well, but I’ve seen greater revenue with Adsterra just that their minimum payment threshold for my preferred payment method is $1000 which isn’t in any way, convenient for me. Propellerads’ minimum payment threshold is $5 and they pay weekly, which I can work with.
But in the same vein, Propellerads will significantly degrade user experience on your site, which is bad for SEO, that is where Adsterra is better.
