Starting a WordPress Website and making money from it is relatively easy.. That’s if you do read this article thoroughly till the end, it won’t take you up to an 1hr to get setup.
What are WordPress Websites?
These are websites using the popular WordPress.org CMS, to start a new wordpress website,
There are two main requirements and they are:
- Domain Name
- Web Hosting
The domain name is the physical address of your website. Like for this my site, my domain name is ebukaval.com.
Web Hosting will be offered to you by a Web Hosting company, they store your website’s files for easy access on the internet.
Getting Started
Firstly, you need to explore the type of website you want to start, this will help you in the long run.
Once you’ve acknowledged the niche you want to start the website on, the next thing is to purchase a Domain Name.
For this project, we’ll be using Namecheap as it’s very easy to use and setup plus it charges you a lot less.
How to Purchase a Domain Name with Namecheap
This is the very best part, you can get a top level .com domain for less than 1 dollar if you use Namecheap, I’ll walk you through the steps you should take.
Step 1: Head over to the Namecheap Domain Discount Page, and then you should read through the information present on the page, after that, enter the domain name you wish to purchase.

If your domain hasn’t been taken and is available, you’ll see a shop Icon next to it, click on that and you’ll be taken to the next page where you should edit your cart.
Step 2: Make sure than Domain Privacy is checked, and then enter the promo code 98DOTCOM if it isn’t already applied to your account. Note that you must be logged in to apply the promo code and the promo code will only work if you extend the domain for 2 years.
Step 3: Click on ‘Confirm Order’ and then you may be required to add your billing information, so you can pay for the domain you wish to buy. When I bought a domain with Namecheap, I got access to the domain in less than a minute.
Purchase Web Hosting for your WordPress Website
Purchasing Hosting for your new WordPress Website is quite very easy, just follow my steps and we’ll be done in no time.
While Purchasing the domain with Namecheap, I hope that you didn’t add WordPress or Web Hosting as that will cost you more.
If you added it, cool, if you didn’t let’s proceed to buying cheap Hosting for your newly bought domain.
Step 1: You should head over to the Namecheap Shared Hosting page and select the plan that suites you. I love Namecheap because you can choose between three datacenters, the US, UK and EU – They make sure your content is in quality hands lol.
Step 2: I recommend that you select the EU Datacenter option, so that you can get credits (free money) as you can see in the image below, if you purchase the Stellar plan, you’ll get an extra $15 in credit, the Stellar plus will give you $18 and the Business will give you $20.

If you’re not hoping to create more websites and increase your portfolio in the future, the Stellar plan is ideal for you, but if you’re someone like that occasionally starts new website to implore other revenue streams, then consider the Stellar Plus plan.
All plans comes with a free domain name, you may be wondering why you had to purchase a domain name from the start, you had to because the none of the plans will give a .com domain at all,
The Stellar Business plan only gives you a 61% discount on a .com domain, so you see why you should first purchase a domain name.
Step 3: Once you’ve decided on the plan that you wish to purchase, scroll down and click on Get Started, then follow through the steps which should be relatively easy since you’ve purchased your domain from Namecheap.
Installing WordPress
Once everything has been setup as I’ve instructed, you should now have the only 2 requirements for a WordPress Website which are Domain Name and Web Hosting.
To Install WordPress, you just need to login to your Cpanel (the control panel for the hosting you just purchased), then click on the Softaculous App Installer.

On the Homepage, WordPress is the first app present due to it’s popularity and stuf, all you now have to do is to click on the Install Button.

On the Next Page, you just have to enter the details needed for WordPress Installed, like the domain name, admin email, admin username, password etc.
Details’ Explanation
Site name is the name of your website, the admin username is the username which you want to use as your login into your site after WP installation.
Site Description – You should just make up something that suites your site, Admin Password – this is the password you’ll be using to login to your site after successful WordPress installation.
Login Email pretty much explains itself.
After Entering the details, you can skip everything else and finalize your WordPress installation by clicking on ‘Proceed’.
It’ll take an average of 2 minutes to complete, so be patient.
Once its done, your details will be loaded and you can now use it to login to your WordPress website.

Strategy to Make Money with your WordPress Blog
If you want to start making money from Day 1, you only need a few things and they include:
- A Clean and Fast Theme
- Great Articles
- Traffic
My first suggestion for you is to avoid free WordPress theme, they simply don’t have the functionality which your site needs to move forward.
I recommend purchasing a premium WordPress Theme on Themeforest (<– Link for Best Discounts), my personal recommendation is the Verta Multi-Purpose Theme, I use it on my site and my pagespeed score is 99/100 (passing Core Web Vitals).
Once you’ve customized and designed your new WordPress Blog, the next step is to write Great Articles that’ll attract visitors from Social Media, Google and various search engines.
You can either write these articles yourself or you can outsource on platforms like BuySellText, ProBlogger, Upwork etc… I do recommend you write yourself because you’re the best person to set the foundations of your blog.
After writing articles, you can give your content an initial boost by posting on Social Media like Facebook, Twitter, etc and re-purposing for Pinterest, YouTube, Instagram and others.
If you’ve ticked all the boxes above, the next vital step is monetization and we’ve got you covered! I have an Ad Networks Category on this website where I talk about ad networks and how to make the most out of them.
Once you’ve started getting let’s say 1000 visitors a month, you should apply for the best ad network for small pubs… Ezoic (<– Use this link to get up to $55 per 1000 views).
Ezoic uses AI to generate Ad placements and sizes, then combines them on different devices for every single user on your site for up 12 weeks, when the AI collects enough data, your ePMV will now shoot up to around $25 depending on your niche.
For those of us who don’t know, ePMV is a metric which Ezoic uses to process Publishers’ earnings, it stands for earnings per 1000 views.
Another great way to earn money from your WordPress website is from Affiliate Sales, you simply talk about relevant paid products in your article, then search for ‘product name + affiliate’.
If the product accepts affiliates, you can signup, confirm your account, add your preferred payment method and then copy your generated affiliate link and add it to your article.
Conclusion
To access the backend of your website – visit https://www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin/ – you should replace yourdomain.com with the domain you bought.
