Google Analytics is a really powerful tool for learning about your site. It helps you track how users interact with content on your website, so you’ll know what and what to improve.

For a user to install Google Analytics on his WordPress website actually seems to be complicated if the user lacks a technical Knowledge on how to go about it.

This article mainly focuses on how to install Google Analytics on your WordPress website easily.

Create a Google Analytics account

If in the case the user doesnt have a Google Analytics account it is advisable he does so.

In order to create a Google Analytics account the user needs to log in to analytics.google.com But in order to log in you will be required to do so with your Google account.

When this has been done you will now be redirected to a page where you will fill the necessary information required for the creation of the account. Be mindful that the information you input has to be legit and genuine.

As soon as this is done, you will be redirected to a page where  your ‘tracking Id’ will be made available.

How to Install Google Analytics on your WordPress website.

After you are done creating your account , the next step is to install your Google Analytics. This process can be done by using these plugins:

  • MonsterInsight
  • Insert Headers and Footers

Installing Google Analytics using the MonsterInsight plugin

If in the case you don’t have this plugin you can add it via the dashboard menu .

Once you are done installing and activating the MonsterInsight plugin you will have to authenticate to your  Google Analytics and also link it up with your Google account.

Once this is done you will have to configure and set up  the MonsterInsight plugin .After setting it up and granting access to certain information then click on the  “Finish Setup and Exit Wizard”.

After this you will be redirected to the dashboard.

On the dashboard menu within 24 hours you should be able to monitor how your website works, the time , most popular posts  on the “Report” section

Installing Google Analytics using the Insert Headers and Footers plugin

To do this from the dashboard menu click on the “plugin” section and then on the “add new” option.

While on that page all you have to do is to insert this keyword  “insert Headers and footers” in the search box. Once the search result is out then click on install and activate the plugin.

After doing this go to the settings menu on the dashboard and click on the insert Headers and footers.

On this page you will see a box which states “scripts in header” and another which says “scripts in footer”. Then simply go to the “Google Analytics” and copy the Javascript which was inscripted  into your tracking ID.

Afterwards paste the information in the box which states  script from header and click “save ” which is at the bottom of the screen. With  this you have simply installed Google Analytics on your WordPress website.

The difference between this two is that in the case of “MonsterInsight” you can easily see how your website  works directly from the Report section while in the case of the ” Insert Header and footer plugin” it is only accessible via the Google Analytics to see the data.

What of the Google Site Kit Plugin?

The Google Site Kit plugin is also a great way to install the Google Analytics on your site, once you install the plugin, you just setup the analytics option and the plugin will automatically do the installation.

Note that this plugin will create a new tracking id on your analytics account, since there is no way for you to connect the tracking id you’ve created yourself, do not use Google Site Kit if you’ve already been using Google Analytics to collect data for a long time.

On this site, I use the Google Site Kit plugin because it’s the most convenient for me and It created and added the tracking id for me. If you’re setting up a new site, use Google Site Kit.
