AdSense is a CPC-based ad network and as I’ve stated in multiple articles, you earn money if your visitors click on the ads present on your site.
In this article, I’ll run you through the steps I took to increase my AdSense CPC for all my site(s).
CPC happens to be the deciding factor on how much revenue you’ll make from your site using AdSense, if an advertiser creates a campaign with $5 CPC and you deliver 1000 clicks, you’ll earn $5000.

In the case that you’re experiencing low CPC rates, here are my proven strategies that’ll help increase your AdSense CPC:
Keyword Research
Yes, It’s not that obvious but Keyword Research is your number 1 step towards increasing your AdSense Cost-per-click, it’s not the traditional keyword Research method…
In this case scenario, you should find keywords that have low competition, high monthly search volume, and CPC, most keyword research tools like Ubersuggest and SEMRush help you with that.
Ubersuggest is my personal favorite because I can quickly use the search filter to get low competition keywords with high CPC and > 1000 monthly searches.
The CPC metric in keyword tools represents how much advertisers will be willing to pay to appear on the first page of Google, your goal is now to write outstanding Articles that’ll make it to page 1 of Google.
Great Content
The Keyword Research Trick I shared in the lines above will make you more revenue by increasing your AdSense Revenue, it only works if you get traffic from Google.
For you to get free SEO Traffic, you should have the best Content and the Best Links pointing to your site.
Link Building has become harder these days, you should focus on creating the best content there is on the keyword(s) you’re targeting.
I consider articles longer than 1000 words, engaging, contains videos and graphics as great content, note that the longer your article, the more keywords you’ll be able to rank for.
Ad Formats, Sizes, and Placements
Ad Sizes and Placements play an important role in increasing your AdSense CPC, make sure that the suitable ad formats are placed in their Recommended position.
For example, a Leaderboard Ad should be placed at the top of your page, ideally, before the title, placing it on the sidebar will only ruin your site’s look unless it’s a responsive ad.
Make sure you use AdSense Auto Ads and set ad load to maximum, the more ads you show the higher your CPC… though not proven.
Your AdSense ads should be in spots where they can be seen more often and stand a high probability of being clicked.
Use all Ad Formats
Make Sure you use all Ad formats available in your AdSense account and combine the text, video, banner, and search Ads to increase your AdSense CPC.
Test the different ad formats using the Optimization Tab on the left navigation menu of your AdSense dashboard.
From my AdSense Reports which constitutes more than 5 websites, Video and Banner Ads seem to have higher CPC rates… it may be different for you but
Combining all the ad formats and displaying every single one of them on every page on your site for up to 12 weeks will enable you to collect enough data to determine which format(s) get you higher CPC rates, and use the format(s) more often.
Block Low CPC Advertisers and Categories
Once you’ve collected enough data by using AdSense on your site for up to 3 months, it’s now time to use blocking controls and block Low CPC advertisers and Categories.
This can be done using the Blocking Controls tab present on the left navigation menu of your AdSense account, you can start by blocking ads from known Low CPC Advertisers and Categories before turning to your Site’s data.
You should use the Experiments Tab to test and see whether your changes will make an impact on your CPC rates as well as your revenue, it usually takes 90 days or less for the results to be out and the AI will now recommend what you should do.
Reduce Ad Fraud
Your Site’s reputation comes first, you may not be aware but advertisers manage sites where they get traffic from and the same way you can block their ads from appearing on your site, they can block your site from displaying their ads.
Ad Fraud occurs when you click the AdSense ads on your site and hope to make money or induce accidental clicks or even encourage your visitors to click on ads.
According to Google, your website visitors should click on ads on your site because the information is beneficial to them and accidentally or because you asked them to do so.
In the same vein, do not use bots to inflate pageviews and click on Ads as AdSense can decide to disable your account for Invalid Traffic.
Desist from participating in Pay-to-click schemes, you won’t earn any money from that and you’re just wasting time which you should use to create more content the best way to increase AdSense CPC is to get traffic from Google Themselves.

You should now use the Filter feature to sort the Keywords by Low Difficulty ( < 40), Search Volume (> 1000), and CPC (> $5). This way Ubersuggest will pull up the list of High CPC keywords which your competitor ranks for.

AdSense is one of the best CPC Ad networks out there, it pays a good amount of revenue to publishers, the only catch is that you don’t have control over how many people will click on your ad(s).
