How to Edit WordPress Footer Content

The Widgets in the Image above is what I refer to as footer content, they are already pre-defined by my theme, so I just need to change the texts and links.
To Edit WordPress footer content, open the backend if your WordPress Website, then hover on the Appearance tab and then click on Widget, you should now see the footer content and edit them.
On the Widgets page, you’ll see the footer columns and then edit each one or add more content, which ever you wish to do.

Now, some of you may experience the event that your website’s theme doesn’t have an option to edit the footer widgets via the widget.php page.
Your Solution is to check your theme’s documentation page and find out which page builder is used, then you can use the pagebuilder to edit your footer.
I use the Newspaper theme by tagdiv on one of my websites, if you import a pre-built website and you want your footer to look great, you’ll have to use their recommended pagebuilder to edit your footer template, then set the template to Global if you want it to show on every page across your site.
The tagdiv builder helps you edit the Newspaper theme on the front-end and that is so for a lower percentage of themes.

The footer copyright text is usually the very last text the credits the theme creator and stuff, if you import a demo. Here’s what my website’s copyright looks like.

So, my WordPress Theme makes it relatively easy for you to edit the footer copyright text.
I just head over to the Theme Options page and then click on the Footer settings and then edit my footer copyright text.
If your theme doesn’t have this option and you wish to edit your footer’s copyright text, you simply hover on appearance, then click on ‘Theme Editor’, then click on ‘Theme Footer’ or ‘Footer.php’ as the case may be.

As you can see in the image above, the footer loads and then you’ll see the texts and links that show up in the footer copyright area of your website, edit the texts and links only, do not touch the PHP code to avoid issues.
This is the best way to edit WordPress Footer copyright text if your theme doesn’t have an option to customize it.
