If you’re looking to advertise your YouTube Channel on YouTube, then you’re on the right path, because in this article, I’ll teach you how I nailed it.
In the YouTube Creator world, it’s either you patiently wait for months to breakout or you invest money.
The reason why people mostly quit YouTube is that they publish content and wait for it to get millions of view just like that, even when they have approximately zero subscribers.
However, I ran an experiment on one of my YouTube Channels which I started sometime ago.
I decided to invest some money into YouTube Ads and start growing the Channel as soon as possible.
Without further ado, let’s get started on how you can advertise your YouTube Channel on YouTube and get more subscribers
First Steps
My Goal was to make my YouTube Channel popular and get more username searches without having to wait for months.
Do note that, YouTube does not count the watch hours you get from running ads on it’s platform – so you gotta still do some work.
So Getting Started, I created the Channel using a profitable approach which I got from this guide, then I uploaded around 15 videos.
The Advertising Strategy
Before I’d start spending hundreds of dollars on YouTube Ads, I knew I had to come up with a clear strategy.
The First thing I did was to create an intro video, explaining the type of content which I’d be creating, frequency and other details.
I edited the video so well that I couldn’t stop watching it even after uploading it on YouTube.
I also made sure that all the thumbnails for the now 16 videos on my Channel were professionally great and click worthy.
Setting up the Ads
To setup YouTube ads, you can head over to youtube.com/ads and then click on Get Started, you’ll be redirected to ads.google.com where you’ll be required to login.
Once you’ve logged in, you’ll see two options which are meant for you to select the focus of your ads, in our case, we’ll choose the second option.

After I clicked on the second option, I went back to my YouTube Channel and copied the link of the Intro vide which I had made, then paste it in the search box.
YouTube pulled up my video, it’s title, description and featured image and I reviewed how the Ad would look like both on Mobile and on Desktop before clicking on the next button.
Less I forget, you’ll be required by YouTube to enter 2 descriptions in the boxes provide, just write anything you want, it makes little or no difference.
In my case, I wrote Subscribe to My YouTube Channel for blahblahblah, the type of content I upload.
On the Next page, you’ll be required to select the country where you want your content to appear on i.e. the country of your target audience.
For the YouTube Channel I used for the experiment, the target audience was Africans mostly Nigerians and the Cost per view was around $0.01 – $0.05.
That meant that if I invested $500, my video will be watched by 50,000 potential Subscribers at the very least.
After going through all the setups and stuff, my ads went live – I had to go through all these steps cuz I was a beginner then, but now, here’s an easier and more profitable way to do so:
What happened with my Ad?
Well in the first trial, I invested a total of $100 into the YouTube ads and I got around 7000 subscribers on my new channel, I was quite happy because most of the people who watched the video loved my content enough to subscribe.
I invested more $200 and at the end of everything, I was left with 12,000 subscribers – the number of views didn’t matter to me.

So was my ad spend worth it? definitely, after I got 12,000 subscribers, it took me around three weeks to get more than 4000 watch hours on YouTube and with only 20 videos.
My videos did so well, even the ones that I uploaded before starting my ad campaign – now I make around $3500 – $4000 from the Channel monthly from both AdSense, memberships and affiliate marketing.
You Should Know This
If you truly want to grow your Channel by advertising on YouTube, then you have to test, test and test – don’t just bash all your cash at once.
I forget to mention, that I only used that my Intro video for the three ads that I ran on YouTube – I think you should do the same,
On your Intro video, the first 5 seconds is crucial, make sure that it’s interesting and captivating – if not, you will fail.
