Adsterra is one of the top high paying ad networks for small publishers mostly because they accept publishers automatically (no manual review by human) and they still pay decently well.
I recently used Adsterra on a couple of my websites in different niches that get thousands of visitors per month and today I’ll share with you just how much Adsterra pays for 1000 views.
If you’ve been a reader on my ad networks category, you must have known the meaning of CPM, well it stands for Cost-Per-Mile, which is how much an advertiser is willing to pay for 1000 ad impressions.
So, without further ado, let’s explore Adsterra’s Publisher Payout rates for this year…
How Much Does Adsterra Pay Publishers for 1000 views?
On average, Adsterra pays publishers anywhere between $9 – $20 for 1000 views, if they get traffic from tier 1 countries like the United States, UK, Canada etc. I’ve seen Adsterrsa CPM Rates rise up to $40 for certain days and I believe traffic isn’t the only factor that influences the earnings.
Advertisers are the ones who control your earnings, let’s say an advertiser creates a campaign that targets desktop users from the United Kingdom, you’ll only earn a great chunk of cash if you send them the users they targeted.

Factors That Affect How Much Adsterra Pays Publishers
There are a couple of factors which affect how much your site will earn from Adsterra, lets take a look at some of the major ones:
- Advertiser.
- Traffic Level.
- Audience Demographics.
- Ad Formats used.
- Ad Density.
1. Advertiser
Most times, Advertisers create campaigns tailored to boost their brand and stuff, so CPM is not always the deciding factor for your Earnings.
Below are the various Earning models which Adsterra uses to calculate your earnings apart from CPM:
CPL – This stands for Cost-Per-Lead and as the name implies, it is how much an advertiser is willing to pay for leads like Email Subscription, Survey completion etc.
CPA – This stands for Cost-Per-Action and it’s how much an advertiser will pay you per action took on their landing page by the traffic you sent to them, this may incluse signups, article reading etc.
CPC – Everybody in the Marketing space knows about this one, CPC stands for Cost-Per-Click, it’s how much an advertiser will pay you for a click on their ad.
The Earning models mentioned above are the cost model presented to the advertisers and they can choose to bid for either one.
What I mean is that, if an advertiser creates a Cost-Per-Click campaign and their ads show up on your site 1000 times without any click, you’ll earn relatively nothing.
Key Takeaway: Advertisers set how much they want to pay Adsterra for each view of their ad or click to their landing page and then publishers are paid their own cut for delivery.

2. Traffic Source
In this industry, there’s a saying that “Not all Traffic Sources are Born Equal”, that was said by me though. The amount of money Adsterra will pay for traffic from Google Search will definitely be higher than the amount they’ll pay you for traffic from Instagram or Tumblr.
That being said, here are a couple of traffic sources that I’ve seen to maximize my Adsterra earnings per 1000 views:
- Google Search.
- YouTube.
- Pinterest.
- Twitter.
- Forums.
What I found in common with all these traffic sources is that visitors that theu bring in lasts longer on my web pages.
Notice I didn’t mention Facebook, well the CPM is very low and I believe that it’s because the visitors I get from my pages don’t even spend up to 1 minute on the article and their bounce rate is equally high.
Generally, test all major traffic sources and know which of them brings the most revenue for your site and then stick to them. The best traffic sources differ for several niches so make sure to experiment.
3. Audience Demographics
This simply entails where your visitors visit your site from, it’s very possible that 1000 visitors from the United States will make you more money than 7000 Ugandan visitors. I mean… it’s the U.S.
An advertiser who pays $15 for 1000 visitors from the United States will pay significantly less for the same amount of visitors targeting lesser Countries like Uganda (No Offense if you from there, that’s just how the Ad eco-system works).
If you target keywords that have significant searches in the Unted States (> 1500), I believe you’ll make ore money from the Adsterra ads on your site.
4. Ad Formats Used
The Ad formats present on your web pages and how you combine them play a huge role on how much you are going to earn from Adsterra.
I found the Video Ad Format, Native Ads, Popunder and Social Bar to work better than others (and that includes Banners). In my experiment, using them more Tripled my earnings.
If you’re going to use banner ads just use them in your header and that’s it, use video in between your articles and then native ads at the end.
5. Ad Density
When displaying ads on your web pages, you should bear in mind that the visitors are the ones that make you money and therefore they come first.
That being the case, you shouldn’t use ad formats combined in excessive manner that your visitors don’t even get to assimilate the information they wanted to. 2 Popups and about less than 5 banners is great to earn you enough, you should take note of the other factors we talked about earlier.
In essence, the number of ads on your webpages as well as the way you combine them shouldn’t shade user experience so you’ll earn more money from your website.
Comparison with Other Ad Networks
Compared with Popular CPM/ePMV/RPM ad networks, Adsterra will generally pay you lesser.
Take for example, Ezoic (which is the best ad network for small publishers) will pay you much more money and I recommend you try to get your site approved today. The same goes for AdSense and other high profile ad networks.
Comparing Adsterra to very simmilar ad networks in it’s class like Propellerads, AdMaven, AdCash, etc. I found Adsterra to perform considerably better for most niches.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Adsterra compared to other Ad Networks
In this section we’ll talk about some certain Adsterra advantages and disadvantages compared to other ad networks.
- If your site’s has problems getting approved for premium ad networks because of it’s nature, then Adsterra is the best choice because they don’t care about your site’s nature.
- Adsterra’s Ad Formats are kind of spammy in appearance and may make users bounce from your website more often, this’ll reduce your site traffic because bounce rate is one of Google’s many ranking factors.
- When it comes to payments, Adsterra pays considerably better than most ad networks and offer a variety of payment options which include Crypto. They pay on a net 15 basis i.e. twice every month. The payment date is communicated to publishers via their dashboard.
- Premium Ad Networks like Ezoic will pay you more money than Adsterra will, this is because most of their advertisers have higher budgets and they have access to the Google Ad Exchange.
- Adsterra has high minimum payout amount compared to other Ad Networks like Ezoic. Once you choose Bank Wire, you’ll need to have at least a $100 on your balance by the next payment date to recieve your money.
There could be more advantages and disadvatages but this are the ones that I experienced for over 6 months of using Adsterra, you could add yours via the comments.
Conclusion
I hope this article on how much adsterra pays per 1000 views not only answered the question you were looking for but also made you understand the concept of Earning as an Adsterra Publisher.
As per my recommendation, Ezoic and AdSense are better alternatives to Adsterra, they’ll pay you more and their ads aren’t spammy (i.e. impact user experience negatively).
In view of the fact that some publishers earn more with Adsterra at times, I encourage you to compare your earnings with several ad networks for at least 30 days before deciding which one to go with.
