Before even creating an intro, you should ask yourself, is an intro really necessary for my Channel, does it add any value whatsoever to your audience, if not, then don’t bother using it.
In this article, we’re going to discuss the topic: How long should a YouTube Intro Be? Everyone has their opinion, here’s what I think…
Your YouTube Intro should not be longer than 10 Seconds, any duration longer than that will make your viewers bounce, leaving you with a low audience Retention Rate and Watch Time, you don’t want that if you want to succeed on YouTube.
You want to keep your intro short and less than 10 Seconds, if need be create one, I have a list of the best Intro Makers for YouTube, explore them and use one of them to create an intro video for your Channel.
What is a YouTube Intro?
A YouTube intro video is that short clip that introduces a Channel before the main video, sometimes you get what the channel is about in a nutshell, most times it’s just a great animation to get you entertained.
A YouTube Intro can be in the form of telling the viewer what they’ll learn by watching the full video, it’s also known as the hook, most times, it decides whether the viewer stays and if you don’t deliver all that you said, the viewer wouldn’t subscribe to your Channel.
Do you need a YouTube Intro?
A few years ago, I would have said Yes but now, I don’t think you need a YouTube Intro because it adds little or no value to your channel and it can be quite tedious to make if you don’t have video editing knowledge.
I remember struggling with intro perfection during my early days on YouTube, I’d see a new Template, add it to my Movavi Video Editor and Customize it, adding my branding.
This wasted my time a lot because I could have used that time to look for keywords for my next video, write scripts or even record a few.
If you’re a small YouTuber, focus on giving your viewers the information they want as fast as possible and when you go big, you can create a short Intro just for branding and trust.
Relaying information faster is key as the level of Competition on YouTube is rising by the minute, nobody wants to search for ‘how to tie my shoe’ and watch a 4hr Tutorial, so be smart and grow on YouTube.
How long do you think a YouTube Intro should be, share your thoughts in the comments.
