Does YouTube Pay every month? YouTube Pays Creators Monthly (every 21st of each month) via direct deposit when they have made at least $100, but before you get paid you need to have been approved and accepted into the YouTube Partner Program.
As we all know, the minimum Eligibility Requirements for the YouTube Partner Program is currently at 1000 Subscribers and 4000 Watch hours in the past 365 days excluding watch time from Ads and YouTube Shorts.
How do Creators Make Money From Their Videos?
Once your Channel has been approved for the YouTube Partner Program, you’ll get access to enable Monetize for your Channel’s content.
And you can now setup the various ad formats given to your by YouTube and they include:
- Skippable Video Ads.
- Non-skippable video ads.
- Bumper Ads.
- Overlay Ads.
I explained these ad formats well in my article do YouTube Creators get Paid If I Skip Ads?, ←you can read right now to understand more.
When your video viewers click on the Ads on your Videos or watch the full ad for up to 30 Seconds, you’ll receive your commissions.
How Much Can you Make as a YouTube Content Creator?
The amount of money that you can make as a YouTube Creator is dependent on a lot of factors which I’m going to explain below.
Your Niche’s CPM
CPM stands for Cost-per-mile and it is how much YouTube is going to pay you when your videos get a thousand views.
This varies by niche, for example, a Finance Tips YouTuber may be paid $18 for 1000 views while a Celebrity News YouTuber might be paid $15 for 1000 views.
Advert Clicks
For you to display Ads on your YouTube Videos, you’ll need to connect your Google AdSense account, you’ll be prompted to create one if you don’t already have one.
And if you’re a blogger, you must have known that Google AdSense is a CPC Ad network, this means that you get paid when adverts are clicked on.
On YouTube, AdSense will also pay you for video views so take note.
Like CPM, CPC varies greatly by Niche and also Country. Most Niches have higher CPC than others… A Creator in the Real Estate Niche will get a higher CPC compared to a Creator in the Gaming Niche.
For example, if a user in the United States comes across a YouTube Videos and Clicks on an Ad, the Creator may receive a $10 commission but if a user in Madagascar sees the same ad in the same video and clicks on it, the creator might receive $5 only.
Final Thoughts
It’s important to note that YouTube pays you for Ad Views and Ad Clicks and not for Video Views.
A Content Creator with a video that got 10,000 views and 7000 ad clicks and another Creator that got 100,000 views and 1000 ad clicks, who do you think will make more?
