In this article, I’ll be revealing the various lighting options which you can use to kind of set up your own YouTube Studio and get started in filming YouTube videos.
Now, I’m going to be covering softboxes, ring lights, LED lights, and natural lights as well and sharing what they look like while comparing them with each other.
I can’t stress how important it is for you to set up lighting correctly before filming any video. Hopefully, by the end of this article, your lighting problems will be fixed.
If you’re new to setting up a YouTube Studio, and you’ve not been a reader on my site – Lighting is a part of the Beginner YouTube Equipment for setting up a YouTube Studio for filming videos.
If you missed it: Here is the YouTube Equipment Every Beginner needs to get started for success.
Best Lighting for YouTube Videos (Categorized)
This entails shooting YouTube Videos with the natural Sunlight, so if you’re shooting in your room, bathroom, kitchen, or anywhere, you should just make sure that there’s a window present.
You’ll now set up your Studio there, such that you’ll be facing the source of light (which is the Window).
The Video will not be all that great compared to using LED Panels or Ring Lights but it does get the job done and costs you nothing.
You just need to get a Good Camera and Microphone, then set up your studio and start recording.
The only con about this setup is that you don’t control Sunlight, sometimes it’s great, sometimes it’s rainy and stuff, with that, let’s proceed to Ring Lights.
Ring Lights are the most used and the most talked about Lighting option especially in the beauty industry and for Social Media influencers at large.
This is so because the modern ones, now allow you to attach your phone or camera and then control the light’s color, intensity, etc.
Ring Lights are Cheap, so if you’re on a Budget, they’re probably not a bad idea, your recordings will still be better than using sunlight due to flexibility and control.
So if you’re in for Ring Lights, I highly recommend you go for the Sensyne LED Circle Lights, they are the best ring lights Available on the market.
It sells for $49.99, but if you use the button below, you can save $19, which is a huge 38% for my readers.
Softboxes come in pairs so the lighting for your recordings will be balanced, though using just one of them doesn’t look good at all.
So, for the perfect softbox set up, you keep one on the left and the other on the right, so that one side doesn’t look darker than the other.
At times, softboxes are more affordable than Ring Lights, so for those of us on a budget, buying this will save a chunk of cash.
The only con with this is that it’s a bit bulky especially if you Working in a small space, it just takes a lot of space but this shouldn’t be a problem if your filming environment is a bit large.
For me, Softboxes is the best beginner option to start with and I recommend the SH Softbox Lighting Kit. The SH Softbox Lighting lot is the very best, it’s the one I used before switching to LED Panels.
We’ve now arrived at my favorite Lighting Set up, this for me was the game changer and is ideal if you’re looking for the best quality lighting setup for your Studio.
With LED Lights, they are a bit more pricey but they are worth it if you ask me, I recommend this for any New YouTube Creator or anyone looking to upgrade their lighting system.
You should have seen the LED Panels, they are used by celebrities during photo shoots and creating Music Videos because they are the best money can buy, there’s just no other lighting system better.
It doesn’t emit any heat compared to the Ring Lights and its color rendering index is on another level altogether.
Just one LED panel is enough to light up your whole video and give you the tone you desire but it’s recommended to use two, so you can balance the whole setup.
So when it comes to the best-LED Panel for YouTube Creators, the GVM RGB LED Video Lighting kit is the most cost-effective and feature-packed product to look out for.
It enables you to create up to 8 different kinds of Lighting scenes, be it a party, paparazzi, TV, Disco, Bad Bulb, etc.
The GVM RGB LED Video Light is available on Amazon for $269.99, I’ve managed to secure a 6% discount for you, yes it’s not that big but it still saves you some money.
What Lighting do YouTubers use?
Their can’t be any definite answer or that, Big YouTubers with millions of Subscribers uses LED Panels because they have enough money to create a professional Studio.
What kind of Lighting do I need for YouTube Videos?
How to Setup Lighting or YouTube Videos
Ring Lights often come with a Camera or Smartphone holder, Softboxes should be places at the left and right sides, camera at the middle of the setup, as for LED panels, place them opposite each other in such a way that they don’t hit your eyes.
With that, I’ve broken down the various Lighting Systems you can add to your setup. You can purchase all of them and then combine them to create a divine lighting setup, at least, that’s what I do.
In any way, I hope that after you read through this article, all your lighting problems must have been solved and you can now record sharp videos.
