Tips to Create a Professional YouTube Video Background.
- Keep it Simple
- Use Sharp Camera(s)
- The lighting should be somewhat perfect.
- Unique
Keep it Simple
Everyone loves simplicity, there’s no harm in doing so, Your Video Background should be relatively easy to set up so that you won’t sacrifice the time needed for editing and recording.
Ideally, a good Background for Your Channel should not take up to 30 seconds to set up, so that you can start filming on the go.
Use Sharp Camera(s)
I can’t emphasize this enough, if you manage to create a great background setting for your filming and you don’t have a good camera, your videos will look bad, very bad.
It’s better you have a nice camera and don’t have a great background than the other way round.
So, if you don’t already have a 4K Camera, I recommend you go for the Sony ZV-1, it’s a great camera that I still use to create content.
However, if you want detailed research on the best Camera for YouTube, this website has an article on that.
Lighting
Whether you choose to use Artificial or Natural Lighting, it should be somewhat perfect and come from a great angle, so that your videos look sharp.
It’s recommended that you go for artificial light as it offers you more control and flexibility compared to natural Sunlight.
I suggest you read this article on the best affordable Lighting for Filming YouTube Videos in 2022, it’ll help you make your choice based on your budget.
Uniqueness
Last but not the least, your background setting should be unique, yes I am giving you some ideas on how to go about it but spice things up and it’ll help you build your brand.
Also, watch out for copyright-protected materials like film posters and brand logos, your Channel may be banned if you repetitively use copyright-protected material.
YouTube Video Background Ideas
- Outdoor
- Green Screen
- DIY Backdrops
- Wall
- Simple Indoor Background
Outdoor
This entails using nature’s background for your YouTube Videos, Creators who use this are mostly in the Lifestyle and Events niche.
A niche where they travel the world and explore new places, nobody wants to watch a tourist attractions review video made by a guy sitting at a desk.

The tip to using the outdoors as your background is to look for somewhere not noisy and people don’t walk around a lot because there is just so much your camera can pick up with 4K resolution.
Green Screen
Green Screen is a video effect used by most Creators who make explainer and tutorial videos, it enables them to stay on screen as they explain and teach without showing their background.
The green screen is my personal favorite out of all the YouTube Video Background Ideas mentioned in this article, because I create explainer videos.

Setting this up to us quite easy, you just have to purchase a green screen background fabric from Amazon or any online shop.
The one which I use for my courses is the LYLYCTY Background 5x7ft Non-Woven Fabric Green screen and guess what? You can get 18% off if you purchase as soon as possible. >>CLICK HERE<< to get the discount
DIY Backdrops
Thus background setting involves the use of a piece of clothing or fabric you already have, it’s much like the green screen but better.
Instead of removing the background, you make it more beautiful by using excellently designed fabric.
Some Creators I know use blankets and bedspreads with beautiful Designs and there’s no way anyone would notice.

You just need to get two stands or anything that’ll hold the fabric in place, then turn off all fans, and close all windows to avoid air disturbing your setting.
Wall
Yes, I mean a wall, if the walls of your room look great and you have lighting, a microphone, and a good camera, I wonder what’s stopping you from filming with it.
To use the walls of your room, you need lighting equipment, preferably LED Lights, they’ll make your videos look sharper so you won’t kinda like blend into the background.

If you can put up some Wallpapers on the wall where you shoot, preferably custom-made, it may look more professional, maybe something like your face and the name of your YouTube Channel.
Simple Indoor Background
This entails just finding a suitable spit in your house that looks good and start filming, it can be in your room, your kitchen, sitting room, office, etc.
It doesn’t look fancy but this is what the majority of YouTube Creators do, they create a lot of content, so they don’t have time to create the perfect background.
Remember that if you want to grow your YouTube Channel, you have to publish High-Quality videos aggressively, setting up a background is just time-consuming because we’ll never be content as the humans we are.

Ideally, if you have YouTube Channel in the food and recipe niche, filming in your kitchen is a very great idea, if you’re in the tech, business, and marketing niche, consider using a green screen or shooting in your office where you tech stuff is.
The point is niches decide the type of background you’ll use, for a plus, open up the content of 5 different YouTube Creators in the same niche as you are and check out where and how they shoot their videos, the type of background they implement.
Then do so yourself, you can’t go wrong because those your competitors are using it and they have a higher percentage of the audience you desire.
