The Quickest and arguably most passive way to monetize your website in the 2020s is definitely through the use of ad networks.
Just in case you don’t know how ad networks work, I have an article that explains that well in simple terms, so let’s get on…
Google AdSense is down right the most popular and one of the best ad networks for publishers of different sizes. AdNow, on the other hand, isn’t that popular but still helps publishers make money from their content.
In this article, we’ll compare Google AdSense with AdNow (AdNow vs Google AdSense) with respect to the following:
- Site Approval Process and Requirements.
- Ad Formats.
- Which one Pays More?
- Minimum Payment Threshold and Payout Options.
- Publisher Support.
AdNow vs AdSense – Site Approval Process & Requirements
Getting your site approved for AdNow is relatively easy even though they’ve been in the ad tech industry for a couple of years now.
This is so because they don’t take a look at your site’s content and design as Google AdSense does, all you need is to verify your site so they’ll be sure your site is live.
After the verification, it’ll only take you a few minutes to generate ad formats, place them on your site and start making money from your website’s traffic.
Changing Gears to Google AdSense. AdSense is very strict when it comes to accepting publishers, this is so because they want to maintain Publisher quality, the better the quality the more the advertisers will pay.
Generally, to get your site approved for Google AdSense, you need to write the best content on the topics you target, write enough articles across a minimum of 3 categories and have an easy-to-navigate and trustworthy site.

AdNow vs AdSense – Ad Formats
If you’re conversant with Propellerads or Adsterra, AdNow ad formats are similar to theirs. The Ad formats include Pop Ads, Banner Ads, Social Bars (Push Notification Ads), etc.
Google AdSense, on the other hand, is focused on only banner and video ads and they are helping publishers generate more revenue since that’s what high-quality advertisers choose for their campaigns.
Comparing these two ad networks based on their ad formats, Google AdSense pretty much trumps AdNow, the reason being that AdSense ad formats are clean and not spammy, and they do not impact user experience as much as AdNow ad formats do.
With AdNow ads on your site except for the banner ads, your readers will barely get a chance to read the content on your website. The same cannot be said for Google AdSense, I’m sure you must have read articles that are monetized with Google AdSense.
Which of them pays more?
For the same amount of traffic, Google AdSense will pay you more money than AdNow ever will. I’ve been with both of the ad networks for years, so trust me when I tell you, if your goal is to make life-changing money from your blog using display ads, don’t even think of AdNow.
You can go for AdNow if you have all these doorway sites that cannot be monetized with premium ad networks e.g Link Shortening sites like Ad.Fly, ShrinkEarn, etc.

AdNow vs AdSense – Payment Threshold and Options
With AdNow, you’ll get 4 different earnings withdrawal options which have different payment thresholds assigned to them.
The Different AdNow withdrawal options and their minimum payment thresholds include; PayPal – $20, ePayments – $20, Bank/Wire – $200, and Webmoney – $20.
Google AdSense offers two payment methods, Bank Wire and Check, and the minimum amount you need to make before you can request your earnings is $100.
AdNow vs AdSense – Publisher Support
In my experience, both their Publisher support systems are not good at all compared to Ezoic. At the very least, AdSense is better than AdNow when it comes to helping publishers.
They have this documentation site with a couple of articles curated to help AdSense publishers and they’ve built a very strong community over the years, one where you can post your problem, and another publisher will help you by giving you info on how you can get by.
Conclusion
While Google AdSense is extremely better than AdNow, it’s important to note that AdNow isn’t that bad, it pays publishers weekly compared to AdSense pays publishers monthly, and their minimum payout is $20 compared to AdSense whose minimum payout is $20.
If you’re torn between choosing one of the two ad networks reviewed today, it’s just best you go for Google AdSense, if you don’t like AdSense then my next pick is Ezoic which is the very best ad network for small publishers.
